Medico International Delegation Visits CEDAR Center and Shelters in Tripoli
A delegation from Medico International visited the office of CEDAR Center for Legal Studies in Tripoli, where they reviewed the centre’s activities and services, particularly in the fields of legal support and rehabilitation services for victims of torture, irregular migrants, refugees, and individuals at risk of deportation or enforced disappearance, as well as the challenges the centre may face in implementing its projects.
The meeting included a presentation on the mechanism for implementing the project the centre is working on in response to the crisis and war, covering the types of humanitarian assistance provided, the methods of distribution, and the entities with which coordination takes place to ensure effective response. The situation of displaced persons in Tripoli was also discussed, including their proportion and distribution within shelters.
Attention was also given to the centre’s work inside detention facilities and prisons during the current war, where it provides assistance aimed at maintaining public health and hygiene, contributing to improved living conditions for detainees, and highlighting the most pressing needs of these facilities.
The visit concluded with a tour of the city’s shelters, where the delegation met with displaced persons, listened to their circumstances and needs, and responded to their questions. This direct interaction reflected the importance of understanding their reality more accurately and reinforced human closeness and firsthand awareness of their daily living conditions.
