Input for the Project of Joint Statement on Enforced Disappearances in the Context of Transnational Repression

Enforced disappearance remains one of the gravest violations of human rights, combining elements of arbitrary detention, torture, and denial of justice. In Lebanon and across the region, this practice has been systematically used against refugees, migrants, and political dissidents, leaving families without answers and victims without protection.

The Cedar Centre for Legal Studies (CCLS), building on its mandate to document abuses and advance accountability, has undertaken detailed case studies and legal interventions to highlight the persistence of enforced disappearances and their devastating impact. This input reflects CCLS’s commitment to professional documentation, evidence-based advocacy, and the promotion of legal and social reforms that safeguard human dignity and ensure justice for victims.
